The SEQUEL Web Interface is the easiest, most cost-effective way to access and work with SEQUEL objects. It lets you use dashboards, views, reports, tables, scripts, and applications—all from a Web browser. And our "zero-footprint" approach means no PC software to install or configure.
Run SEQUEL objects, including dashboards, directly from your browser.
Use the SEQUEL Web Interface to easily create lists of SEQUEL objects, display results, download data to your PC, print, e-mail, and more.
New for 10: SEQUEL Web Interface Explorer!
The SEQUEL Web Interface Explorer is a friendly, interactive, and powerful interface for SEQUEL users. Discover an intuitive interface that provides single-click access to SEQUEL objects.
Use the new SEQUEL Web Interface Explorer to:
- Display view results quickly and securely.
- Download and save data in various file formats.
- Display and print reports and tables
- Run scripts and drill-down applications by double-clicking on them
- Send data as e-mail attachments.
The Classic Interface
The Classic interface is designed for operators, programmers, and more advanced end-users.
- SEQUEL developers can share data with users (both internal and external) using a Web browser.
- End users can access and run query objects and SEQUEL objects (views, tables, reports, scripts, spplications) with a single mouse click.
Developers can use this interface to create comprehensive, browser-based data access and analysis systems using queries, run-time prompts, drill-down hyperlinks, and graphics. Then, reformat DB2 data using Extensible Markup Language (XML) and Extensible Stylesheet Language (XSL) to format the results.
The Classic interface also allows users to manage spooled file output over the Web, use free-form SEQUEL statements, and run Query/400 requests.
Security
The SEQUEL Web Interface offers different ways to secure access to views and data.
- You can configure the SEQUEL Web Interface to use IBM i object-level security. Anyone trying to access SEQUEL views through the SEQUEL Web Interface must log on with a valid user ID and password. Each user’s access to SEQUEL objects and files is validated against their credentials.
- You can secure the SEQUEL Web Interface without requiring a valid user ID by securing the objects used by the HTTP server. The IBM i HTTP server uses both user profile and password security to limit access from the Internet or an intranet. Because the server is read-only, the SEQUEL Web Interface does not allow UPDATE or DELETE commands.
Either way, the result is fast, easy, secure, and cost-effective access to your data with the SEQUEL Web Interface.
Distribution
When you combine the SEQUEL Web Interface with SEQUEL [4] or ESEND [5], you can distribute files by e-mail directly from your browser. You can license the SEQUEL Web Interface at one low price for all IBM i servers. It’s a great way to provide better end-user access to information at any location without the time and money costs associated with other solutions.
