AnyDate

AnyDate is a simple yet powerful software utility that lets you override the System i system date and time for your jobs or programs. You can run date- or time-sensitive applications, between the years 1928 and 2071, without having to reset system values that affect other jobs or other system users. And, it’s completely safe to use while other jobs are running because its date and time overrides are limited to the job that runs it.

You can use AnyDate to jump into the future to see if your System i applications are ready for a particular date. It's perfect if you need to simulate a future run date in your System i applications. And, AnyDate is great for re‑running historical reports that use the system date. For example, if last week's production jobs failed, you can use AnyDate to restart them with the appropriate date value.

AnyDate installs in minutes and is easy to run from either interactive or batch jobs. We even include some test programs to get you started and to show you how easy AnyDate is to use.

Easy to Use
AnyDate installs in just minutes and is very easy to use. AnyDate lets you run your System i jobs in the past, present, or future, and it even comes with sample programs you can use to practice.

Test Applications For the Future
Want to see if your System i applications are ready for next year, or for the next ten years? AnyDate is the perfect tool to test your applications and simulate a future run date.

Rerun Applications From the Past
AnyDate can simulate any job run all the way back to1928. It’s perfect for re-running historical reports that use the system date. For example, when last week’s production jobs fail, you can use AnyDate to restart them with the appropriate date value.

Handle Network Time Zones
If your System is part of a network of systems in different time zones, you can use AnyDate to show the correct time and day at each location.

Two Simple Commands
You run AnyDate using two simple commands:

  • Use the Override System Date (OVRSYSDATE) command to start your date simulation using the date and time parameters you specify.
  •  Use the Delete Date Override (DLTDATEOVR) command to end your date simulation.

Run Interactively or In Batch
To use AnyDate interactively, just enter the OVRSYSDATE command at a command line and run your applications using your simulated date. Or, use AnyDate and a batch job scheduler or a CL procedure, by using OVRSYSDATE as the first command in your job definition and DLTDATEOVR as the last. You can even use AnyDate with Robot/SCHEDULE, the job scheduling and batch job management software, to schedule and automate your date simulation.

Robot/SCHEDULE

You can use Robot/SCHEDULE, the job scheduling software from Help/Systems, to schedule AnyDate to run your test date simulations automatically according to your scheduling needs.
