Create a Robot Automation Dashboard with SEQUEL

If you have any of the Robot products for automated operations or you have SEQUEL for data access and analysis, you may have wondered how they fit together. Join us for an exciting, online demonstration!

We'll create a Robot dashboard that displays key performance indicators about your System i computer operations in a online demo. We'll use the detailed operations history the Robot products maintain and combine it with SEQUEL's powerful query capabilities. The resulting Robot dashboard will give you summarized, up-to-the-minute operations metrics. If you need to share operations benchmarks with your team or your management, this could be a very valuable hour. We'll work with three of the most popular Robot products to demonstrate the kind of information you can display:

Robot/SCHEDULE

• Pie chart showing Total Number of Robot Jobs versus end-user submitted batch jobs, over the last 7 days.
• Pie chart showing all completion statuses (by percentage and number of jobs) for the last 7 days. We'll also show you how to drill down to get more information about any status.
• Histogram (bar graph) of the top long-running jobs (jobs running 30 minutes or more, on average), over the last 30 days.
• Graph of the number of batch jobs run through Robot/SCHEDULE on each day, for the last 30 days.

Robot/SAVE

• Histogram showing the number of backup processes run each day, for the last 7 days, and their completion status.
• Graph showing how long backups took each day, for the last 30 days.
• Informational list of Libraries/Objects/Directories not backed up successfully.
• Pie chart showing volumes by backup type.

Robot/CONSOLE

• Graph of the number of messages processed by Robot/CONSOLE on each day, for the last 30 days.
• Message count by severity (excluding severity 00) each day, for the last 7 days.
• List of message IDs that occurred at least 10 times in the last 7 days for which there is no message set (candidates for automation).

As time permits, we hope to demonstrate even more ideas and help you get started building your own Robot dashboard, including: Robot/REPLAY and Robot/REPORTS. You'll see how easy it is to build a dashboard and how useful this can be — especially if you are a Data Center Manager or Information Technology Director.
