Help/Systems SEQUEL Software PowerTech

Video Demos

SEQUEL is a simple, powerful data access, analysis, and presentation tool for IBM Power Systems running IBM i. This video is a visual overview that answers the question, “What is SEQUEL?”

This video provides an overview of ABSTRACT functions as seen in the graphical, Windows-based WebSphere Development Studio Client and System i Navigator interfaces.

If you need to analyze data, this video shows you a number of approaches using sales data as an example. See how to look at sales:

  • By month and region, graphing seasonal sales trends
  • By region and item, e-mailing the results as an Excel spreadsheet
  • By customer, showing what percent of total sales each customer represents and rank ordering customers by total sales

The Client Reporting Option allows you to format System i (iSeries, AS/400) reports using all the fonts and colors available on the PC printers at your site. Reports can also include pictures and other formatting options, such as shading, borders, and conditional highlighting.

This video provides an overview of ABSTRACT functions in the traditional 5250 host interface.

This video shows how ACU can be used to generate an impact analysis and automatically convert source for a field expansion project.

SEQUEL Templates make query design a snap for end users. File JOINs, complex calculations, and date field conversion are completely hidden from the end user. Database and calculated fields display with meaningful field names that are easily understood by everyone. This video shows how easy it is to create a view using a Template.

Managers commonly use Microsoft Excel to prepare budgets and create other types of departmental databases for business analysis. This demonstration shows how you can use SEQUEL to automatically upload Excel files created by multiple departments to the System i, then compare the spreadsheet data with other System i database information. The example in this demonstration shows how to use SEQUEL to streamline the budget and financial analysis process.

SEQUEL simplifies access to J.D. Edwards (JDE) database information. SEQUEL automatically converts data and links field attribute information from JDE data dictionary files to transaction files to create a new view of the data, without changing the original dictionary database files. You can access the information using SEQUEL or another query program, a spreadsheet, or other third-party reporting tools. You see the information you need without the need to translate decimal positions or decipher cryptic field descriptions. This video shows how to make JDE data more accessible.

SEQUEL’s Import function lets you convert your query objects to SEQUEL views and reports. This video shows how easy the process is and how you can leverage your existing queries into more advanced SEQUEL objects.

The SEQUEL Web Interface is perhaps the easiest and most cost-effective way to get AS/400 and System i information to a Web browser. This video shows how the SEQUEL Web Interface lets you run existing Query/400 and SEQUEL requests and manage spooled files from a browser window.
